When the Tsar proclaims that the first person to bring him a flying ship will be rewarded with his daughter's hand in marriage, he is sure that only a prince will succeed. A young peasant, whom everybody takes for a fool, is determined to claim the prize. Along the way the "Fool" meets a motley set of companions whose unique talents he thinks might be useful to the Tsar. But in fact, his friends' talents are exactly what he needs to help him achieve his own goal. This retelling of a traditional Ukrainian folk tale illustrates the value of kindness, friendship and determination. The humor in the tale is brought to life by the brilliant and luminous watercolors.
